I wonder did you stop
And look around you here
Was it something that you saw
Or maybe you could hear
You did not linger long
As just one pawprint shows
Maybe you paused a while
Catching a scent upon your nose
How long ago was this
When the ground received your mark
Now we will always know you passed
But never hear your bark
