You know, Facebook can be such a powerful tool
It can teach you the things they avoided in school
If you scroll past the nonsense and seek you can learn
About forests of trees (for your palm oil) they burn
There are posts that will show you how animals die
But you're scared if you watch them you'll break down and cry
But that is its purpose, and why it is there
To show you have heart, and to prove that you care
You can read of our world, and the damage we've done
This is something so real, it should scare everyone
Your children, their children, their children to be
Might not know of a fish that once lived in the sea
If you scroll past the posts that are trying to teach
If you think that your friends are just trying to preach
I ask you... Is posting your dinner okay?
When the dinner you show was alive yesterday!
Do you think that a quote that you found on the net
Will make others think twice of the karma they'll get?
It's a fact, no one thinks when the truth has been shared
If you did, then a million lives would be spared
So read what is posted, and watch when you can
By eating a cow doesn't make you a man
But by shedding a tear when you see something real
Is how every human should honestly feel

Be There - Stephen A. Roberts
Why can't I live in the moment
Instead of holding out my phone
Like a freakin' geiger counter?
Why not see the whole, the real
In live-screen now-vision, and be there
not looking through a 5 inch, 41 mega pixel window?
Does life not exist outside the bezel?
And on play back
- I hardly ever play it back -
Will the world be bigger than I thought?
Does it prove I was there?
I was, but I wasn't;
Think about it.
What will I see on my death bed?
When the final moment comes,
as I take my final fading selfie,
My life won't flash before me
because
it won't be there, it will
all be in the Cloud.

The Social Departing of Steven Nobody - Ian Duquemin
Dear Facebook friends...
I am saying goodbye
I hate living this life and I've decided to die
I don't have to tell you... but do feel the need
As it's you that will help me succeed
Dear Steven...
I hope that you're feeling ok
Maybe you're having a bad day today
You just need to "turn off", give Facebook a break
Before you make a mistake
Dear Susan...
You don't even know who I am
Don't try to pretend that you might give a damn
We've not even spoken... And never have met
And if we did you'd despise me I'd bet
Dear Steven...
Susan was trying to be nice
I hope with this comment you will take my advice
And try to calm down... Maybe swallow a pill
Try to relax... And just chill
Dear Colin...
I've taken the advice that you gave
It might be too late but I'll try to behave
I've taken a pill... A whole bottle in fact
So I'm feeling a little bit whacked
Dear Steven...
I don't know the reason or why
But to write on your wall you've decided to die
Is really quite strange and a little... Un-cool
And probably breaks Facebook rule
Dear Andrew...
I don't really care what you say, oh...
And stop sending invites for games that you play
This isn't a game... It is very damned real
And none of you know how I feel
Dear Steven...
Andrew was being sincere
And Colin and Susan expressing their fear
We worry for you by the things that you say
So I hope you don't mind if I pray
Dear Robert...
Pray if you really believe
But this is the last post that you will receive
These words are a blur and my breathing is slow
I will log out on life now and................
Dear no one...
The spirit of Steven has passed
This lonely recluse without pain at long last
Slumped over an iPad... A sad tragic end
As he died with not one real friend

Will The Revolution Be On Facebook? - Andrew Barham
The Revolution will not be televised
But it will be on Youtube
For our continued entertainment.
We will tweet it widely
Proclaiming its progress daily
Perhaps even hourly as it unfolds.
You'll confront it face on
In our status updates
And you won't need to google it,
Because it will be all over MySpace –
But, you Reddit here first!
And when it's all over
You'll be able to read about it
In Wikipedia.

Social Meejah - Stephen A Roberts
Mobile devices in my hand
I like to roam the land
I like to keep in touch
Maybe a bit too much
“I’ve had an egg sandwich
In a cafĂ© by London Bridge”
I twitter far and wide
An incessant verbal tide
I don’t care who wants to know
I let my inane babble flow
I’m there – and I’m here
Tweet, tweet, like diarrhoea
Shock revelation – I’m on a train
With my “Social Meejah” – but not my brain!
