Pie In The Sky - Donald Keyman
When your family can’t be fed
And it’s almost cheaper to be dead
You take stock and wonder why
Our leaders all want pie in the sky
Their ludicrously grandiose schemes
Will rip the purse at its seams
Looking for money we don’t have
Cos it was spent by Uncle Gav
They want a shining mini Monaco
Where only the moneyed rich can go
For tax-free fuel and their super yachts
While the proletariat can only watch
Grandstanding in the House they boast
Of their imaginary tunnel on the coast
An airport that can handle B-52s;
It’s a shopping list writ by fools

What a pity, about Aunt Kitty - Tony Bradley
Aunt Kitty used to stay with us,
for a fortnight, once a year
after 2 weeks of her Scrabble
we’d had enough, of the crafty old dear.
She’d bring her own Scrabble set with her
and with it, her own set of rules
but every game, she’d move the goalposts
and make us all look like fools.
She liked to play for money, not a lot
we’d start maybe with a pound in the kitty
but she’d win, almost every game
raking in the quids, saying "what a pity."
Last year, sadly, her eyesight failed
so no more Scrabble, for poor Aunt Kitty
Scrabble was her life, so she passed away
we miss her shenanikins, and "what a pity."

Some People Are So Poor, All They Have Is Money - Ian Duquemin
They can go on holidays
They can buy a house
Many have actually bought their spouse
They can purchase diamonds
Flaunt expensive rings
Drive the fastest cars,
Wear designer things
But they just want more
Like a junkie needs
And they will not stop till their greed succeeds
It's kind of sad
And yet it's also funny
That some people are so poor, all they have is their money

I'm So Poor I Can't Even Pay Attention Anymore - Lyndon Queripel
It seems to slip right through my hand
Just like grains of sand
It burns a hole in my pocket
Unless I get a safe and lock it
Money
I am up to my eyes in debt
It's going to get deeper yet
Penny wise pound foolish they say
Not until the last bill you pay
Money
It always seems so strange
How I manage to lose change
It won't buy you happiness it's true
But it makes misery easier to go through
Money
It's invested in stocks and shares
Some say it talks others say it swears
Some say it makes the World go around
That's why they bury it under the ground
Money
New paper to print new coins to mint
New prices always leave me skint
The technology is so fantastic
Now it's even made of plastic
Money
Man cannot live on bread alone
That's why the banks have all over grown
If you pay the piper you call the tune
Will the one World currency be here soon
Money
You can be rich, you can be poor
For sure you're going to want more
But when you love it more than people
Then you'll find it's the root of all evil
Money

I'm indebted to Mother - Tony Bradley
Mother would send around to the neighbours
with a note, asking to lend five quid
I remember slammed doors, and angry faces
no, I don't think anyone ever did.
I remember my shame at junior school
I'd lie awake at night, dreading tomorrow
kids would say things about me and my family
making fun, because we had to borrow.
My Dad was in the Navy, earning good money
but she was pitifully extravagant, such a shame
her family had been rich, but her Father died suddenly
and she wanted to return to the good life, again
She couldn't budget, would never prioritise
we never had corned beef, it had to be gammon
and I was the only kid at school
eating sandwiches filled with bacon, and salmon.
Now, because of poor Mother, I've learnt to be frugal
sometimes doing without, to put a bit aside
so that, when the Tollman comes for his money
we don't all have to run and hide.

The Fat Cat Sits On The Mat - Chris Hudson
I’m a Fat Cat
Reaping the profits of insider dealing
I’m a Fat Cat
I’m into “in-the-know” trading
I’m a Fat Cat
I don’t care who I swindle
I’m a Fat Cat
I’ve got all the status symbols.

The Sales - Jenny Hamon
I’m clearing out my wardrobe
With my old stuff I will part
It’s not that it is past it
But the sales are about to start
It’s said when the New Year comes
It’s out with the old and in with the new
So this is how I translate it
As the sales are in my view
I wonder who decides
The latest fashion for this year
When I have a wardrobe full
Of unfashionable gear
Sometimes I think and ponder
Or maybe I’ll ignore the trend
I’ll wear my outdated fashions
And my money I’ll not spend
But then I think I’ll miss
The excitement of a sale
Where the bargains lure me in
And my resolution will fail
Jenny Hamon
With my old stuff I will part
It’s not that it is past it
But the sales are about to start
It’s said when the New Year comes
It’s out with the old and in with the new
So this is how I translate it

Money feels good? - Ian Renouf-Watkins
Feel the crisp touch on your hand
Does it feel good, give you happiness?
Tender might make you feel grand
Though can it really end your loneliness?
Un-peel a note from your roll
Will it assure you, create contentment?
Money that pays for your soul
Can it be more than greedy sentiment?
Give all your money away
Would it be wise, will you feel better?
“Keep it,” the Devil will say
It’s always important to be much richer…
